More Than Just Food, Our Soup Kitchen Gives Hope

Come to Open Arms Community Outreach to feed both your body and soul. We are a food bank serving the citizens of Monroe, North Carolina, and the rest of Union County. Our organization leads regular church activities as well.

Open for All

Regardless of your color or gender, you are welcome to get food resources from us. Every first Tuesday of the month, our soup kitchen serves everyone who has no means of getting food on his or her own, including:

Children • Families • Seniors • Vietnam Veterans

Immediate Action and Solution

You do not have to wait in line to get a voucher for our food. Just fill out our form, give us your Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) food stamp card and driver's license, and you can pick up the food that you need within the same day. If you do not have these documents available, we will still do our best to give you the food that you need, as a one-time exception.

Food Sources

Depending on what our local resources give us, our selection may vary every month. We receive food throughout the week from grocery stores. Please take note that we do not give out canned goods. Our food items include perishables, such as:

Meats • Sandwiches • Vegetables • Fruits • Bread • Cheese • Yogurt • Cakes • Cookies

Setting Expectations

What we offer is a temporary monthly solution. We give our best to provide you with enough food that will last for one month. Our program is designed to address your needs when you are in between food stamps or other forms of government or public assistance. It also works as a supplement to the other programs you are currently in. Sometimes, we have an overflow of food and let everyone, including those who have already received their monthly supply, pick up as much food as they like.
